At Kosta Boda Art Hotel, the spa department is far more than a place for relaxation – it is an art experience where some of Sweden's foremost glass artists have left their mark on the environment.
A glamorous world created by Åsa Jungnelius
When you step down into the spa department, you are met by Åsa Jungnelius's iconic and oversized nail polish sculptures. Here, she has created an environment that brings to mind an exclusive big-city salon – a boudoir in the middle of the Småland forest.
The reception, waiting room and treatment rooms feature mirrors, gold details and playful luxury. Right in the middle of the environment, the gold-coloured sofa stands as a symbol of glamour and abundance. Åsa loves playing with the boundary between genuine and fake materials, creating an atmosphere that both fascinates and seduces.
An underwater adventure by Kjell Engman
The indoor pool, which has become one of the hotel's most well-known features, was created by Kjell Engman. The pool's oval shape is inspired by classic Roman baths, and with the water surface level with the floor, a harmonious and almost floating feeling is created in the room.
Just like in the Glass Bar, Kjell has made water the recurring theme. Behind a babbling waterfall, glass fish leap out from the walls, contributing to the fairy-tale atmosphere.
Furthermore, an unexpected art exhibition awaits at the bottom of the pool. Glass-encased sarcophagi containing evocative objects and installations create a unique experience where the art literally lies beneath the surface.
The three central sarcophagi are permanent works of art, while several of the installations along the edges of the pool can be adapted for special events and conferences.
Outdoor spa with Göran Wärff's signature
Spa's outdoor section is designed by Göran Wärff, one of Sweden's most appreciated glass artists. Here you are met by his characteristic work with glass fusing and recycling, where the nuances of the glass interact with the surrounding nature.
The spectacular glass walls surrounding the outdoor pool are inspired by and created from Göran's own art glass. The result is a harmonious environment where art, light and water meet all year round.
